The Metropolitan Herpetological Society is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit reptile and amphibian husbandry and conservation club based out of Staten Island, N.Y. The club's mission is to educate the community on the proper care of reptiles in captivity and the importance of conservation of our own native species.
We are a family oriented club that is open to people of all ages and levels of experience. Club members range from novice to advanced keepers and breeders. We are a close-knit group and we strive to make all visitors and new members feel like they are a part of our family.
Meetings take place on the third Monday night of each month at the Blue Heron Park nature center. They include guest speakers of all varieties, including: breeders, advanced keepers, veterinarians, herpetologists, etc.
In addition to monthly meetings, we plan outdoor excursions and other field trips. We also host and participate in community events such as pond cleanups, restoration projects, reptile & amphibian expos, and herp research.
Be sure to check out our event calendar and we hope to see you at our next meeting! |
