On Sunday, November 2nd, the Metropolitan Herpetological is hosting an educational reptile & amphibian expo at the Blue Heron Park Nature Center.  The expo will feature different stations that will be devoted to different types of reptile & amphibian species.  Some of the guests that will be taking part are the Education Department of the Staten Island Zoo, Clay Wollney (editor of the science column in the "Young Advance" section of the Staten Island Advance), Ed Johnson (Curator of Science at the Staten Island Museum), Dr. Peter Astarbi DVM, and some local breeders and advanced keepers.  The expo will also include a wide variety of live reptiles & amphibians on display.  It will be a hands on experience for all in attendance.  We will also be having silent auctions and raffles throughout the day.  Prizes might include live animals and/or husbandry supplies.  We will also be doing a powerpoint presentation on "good pets" for beginners and a general overview of reptile care.  If anyone has any questions regarding the expo, you may contact Harvey Bird at 917-992-1847 or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
