For the second year in a row, the Metropolitan Herpetological Society will be hosting an educational reptile & amphibian expo at the Blue Heron Park Nature Center. The expo will take place on May 4, 2008. It will be from 12-4pm. Once again, the event will be free to the public.
The event will feature live displays of a variety of reptile & amphibian species, including some native species. Those taking tables at the event will include private breeders, advanced keepers, naturalists, veterinarians, etc. Representatives of the Staten Island Zoo's Education Department will also be in attendance.
The day coincides with Happy Herp Day at Blue Heron Park. NYC Urban Park Rangers will be leading walks around the ponds & trails in search of local native reptile & amphibian species that inhabit the park.
The event should be a lot of fun, so come on down and check it out! |

Site Enhancements |

Hello everyone.
I have just finished updating several areas of the site. The most noteable change is the new site layout. The site now spans 100% accross the screen, allowing for more content area for most users (This depends on your screen resolution). We also updated the header and added a menu underneath it to make for navigation to the sites main areas more convenient.
The forum has been updated as well and a new private message system is in place. Be sure to check out both of those new features. While you're there take a look at the "Forum Enhancements" thread so you can check out some of the new features in that part of the site.
The gallery is also complete now and you can start uploading your own photos and sharing them with other members. Just login to the site, visit the gallery page and click on the link at the top of the page that says "My Pictures" to get started.

I have taken the forums down while I work on some upgrades to them. I should have them back up in a day or so. In the mean time, feel free to use the Chat Room or browse the rest of the site.
